Collection: A Musical Interlude
So many skills! Enforce fine-motor development, introduce rhythm, and practice cooperation with these simple and fun instruments.
Materials:
- Westcott 5" Kids scissors
- cardboard tube
- ribbons, yarn, and fabric scraps
- rubber band
- 6" tissue paper square
- glue

Step 1
Cover one end of your tube with the tissue paper. Use the rubber band to secure it in place.
Step 2
Using the scissors, fringe-cut the free edges of the tissue paper.
Step 3
Cut ribbon, yarn, or fabric scraps and tie or glue each one around the tube to decorate your instrument. Once the tube is complete, hold the open end to your mouth and hum to make beautiful music!
Adult supervision is recommended when children use scissors.
