Collection: Exploring Inventions
Use this mobile to inspire historical research or to complement an oral report.
Materials:
- Westcott 5” Kids scissors
- three 9" paper plates
- three 2" lengths of yarn
- three 5" lengths of yarn
- tagboard sheet
- markers or crayons
- stapler

Step 1
Cut the center from each paper plate. Color the rim of each plate.
Step 2
On the tagboard, draw or write three important facts related to an invention and its inventor. Cut them out.
Step 3
Staple a two-inch length of yarn to the top of each cutout. Then position each cutout in the center of a paper plate rim; staple the yarn to the rim so the cutout is suspended in the middle.
Step 4
Connect the three plates with two of the five-inch yarn pieces, stapling them in place. Loop the remaining yarn piece to make a hanger and staple it to the top plate.
Adult supervision is recommended when children use scissors.
